THE ANVAYA BEACH RESORT BALI

Kunyit Restaurant is the ideal introduction to the traditional delicacies of Bali and Indonesia, providing a sensory dining experience that specializes in local cuisine. “Kunyit” means turmeric, which is one of the key ingredients incorporated into many of the dishes served. The Bali Aga influence, meanwhile, is experienced not only in the traditional family style of dining, where a selection of dishes are served to be shared, but also in touches of the architecture and décor of this comfortable, contemporary venue.

Kunyit also offers various entertainments for its guests during the week with Fire Dance shows every Wednesday and flavors of Balinese and Indonesian cuisine with Bali’s marvelous Barong and Legong Dance performance every Saturday. All performances start from 7 p.m. onwards and the famous Megibung package pictured above is available every day during lunch and dinner only $35 per couple which includes dessert.

This was our first time trying traditional Megibung and we love the experience at Kunyit Resturant. The staff were super friendly and keen to share and teach us the stories behind Megibung.
At Kunyit Restaurant, there’s two type of Megibung that you can choose from: Tenganan and Bali Aga. Each offers different specialties.
The Tenganan set starts with three types of satay, followed with Komoh Ikan soup, then 6 items from fish, chicken and prawns served on a big tray. Meanwhile, the Bali Aga set contains pork.
For starters you receive two types of satay, followed with Cramcam Ayam soup and 6 items. Each set is served with two types of sambal and white and red rice options, plus a platter of traditional dessert pictured above on the right.
What we loved the most about Megibung at Kunyit is the whole experience. From the detailed explanation and back story of each dish and Megibung. To the staff providing a small bowl which the pour water to wash our hands with, this is because Megibung are often enjoyed with our hands. This is a experience usually reserved for the elites. Overall the Kunyit Restaurant is the ideal for families to be introduced to traditional delicacies and customs of Bali and Indonesia and we highly recommend you try it.
