Hands on FUN
WITH NINTENDO LABO

Today we were Super lucky to Create, Explore and road-test the latest Nintendo Labo products from Nintendo here in Melbourne.
Picture
Announced earlier this year, Nintendo Labo is a gaming and construction toy platform developed by Nintendo to be used as an extension to the Nintendo Switch gaming system, which will be released in 20 April 2018.
Picture
Labo uses infrared sensor technology in an innovative way. On the Nintendo Switch each Toy-Con construction there are selectively placed infrared stickers / tap. Working together with the motion controls within the Joy-Cons, the infrared sensor and stickers communicate and allow you to use the Toy-Cons to interact with one another or what’s happening on the Nintendo Switch screen.

Once you turn it on, you’ll find Nintendo Labo has three sections: Make, Play, and Discover. The Make section contains all of the instructional guides for putting together your Toy-Cons; Play is the place where you’ll find all of the relevant mini games (each Toy-Con has at least one); and Discover is the place where you can find out more about how the Toy-Cons work and what you can do with them.

Nintendo Labo Toy-Cons are DIY – and fun and easy to make. and come with easy to follow instructions on the Nintendo Labo app on the Switch console, each step was clearly laid out and explained how to fold them, how to bring them together and how long the process is likely to take. The first thing we built was the race car, which took no less then 10 mins to build with the help of Josie our Nintendo Tech buddy.

We were also encouraged to customize our Toy-Cons creations, and, the kids love the idea and could have spent hours on this alone. Using colored pens, markers, tape, glue and googly eyes kid could turn them into anything they wanted.
Nintendo Labo offers a range of games to connect to and we got to try out everything within the Labo Variety pack, which included a fishing rod, the dolls house, motorbike, and piano. Kids loved the Piano!
Picture
The biggest piece of set is the Labo Robot which includes a giant backpack, straps that fit around your feet, and paddles to hold.
Picture
Our eldest ages 9 absolutely loved this set Punching, stomping and flying his way through a city and destroying everything in his path reaching for the highest score!
Picture
Lifting your arms in the air will make your bot fly, crouching turns it into a tank, and lifting your legs up and down makes it walk, while punching, naturally, punches. it was loads of fun.
Picture
We can absolutely recommend Labo Kits and can see this product providing hours of fun for kids and parents and it has a great deal of educational / creative potential.
Picture
We had hours of fun playing and making our creations with our kids and can see other parents doing the same thing, Labo is a Great concept from Nintendo and gets everyone involved and creative with less screen-time and more play. Brings back the child-hood memories of imagination of turning empty boxes into houses, cars and rocket ships.
