A MAGICAL LUMINARIA OF LIGHT AND COLOUR IS NOW OPEN AT FED SQUAREFederation Square has been transformed into an impressive inflatable structure of colour, sound, tunnels and domes for a limited time these school holidays. From 6th - 28th of January ARBORIA, a giant, blow-up labyrinth of winding tunnels and soaring domes will call Melbourne home. Inspired by the shapes, form and colours of the forest, ARBORIA is an interactive art experience that appeals to the aural and visual senses. ARBORIA will fill the length of the undulating Square, as it uses the sun’s rays to light its magical halls of wonder. ARBORIA features a series of luminous, tree-like structures and visitors will be wrapped in a soundscape of the Ecuadorian Cloud Forest that will take them on a journey far beyond. An immersive experience, visitors will be amazed by the colours, shapes, reflections and patterns as they are transported to a magical place as they journey through ARBORIA’S winding maze. Each dome bears its own stylish leaf motif with the central 10 metre high dome an interpretation of the tall, Gothic windows and arching columns of York Minster in the United Kingdom. A creation that draws its inspiration from earthly things of beauty, ARBORIA has been designed by Alan Parkinson of internationally acclaimed Architects of Air and is one of many ‘luminaria’ they have created. Generating a sense of wonder and enchantment, visitors will enjoy a magical, sensory experience as they wander through this incredible airy castle. And it’s important to note that this is the only time ARBORIA will be seen in Melbourne. It has to be seen to be believed!
