Virtual LEGO® fun for the International Day of Friendship!LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre is honouring the International Day of Friendship on Thursday 30 July with virtual activities to inspire kids to build, create and play with their friends from the comfort and safety of their own home. Melbourne’s biggest indoor LEGO® playground may be currently closed to the public but that hasn’t stopped them from encouraging kids to enjoy virtual LEGO activities with their friends this week by launching a creative build competition, hosting live streams and providing a free gift with online retail purchases. In celebration of International Day of Friendship, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre is asking children to create a LEGO masterpiece that is inspired by one of their friendships. Whether it be a LEGO incarnation of an activity they miss doing with friends or a recreation of their best buddy as a Minifigure, the team is calling on kids to upload a photo of their masterpiece on the LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Facebook page and describe what makes this friendship special. Entrants will be in the running to win two family passes to LEGOLAND Discovery Centre so their family and their friend’s family can both enjoy a fun-filled day out once restrictions ease and the attraction reopens to the public. Master Model Builder Kieran Jiwa will also be hosting two live workshops on Facebook so children can build along at the same time as their friends! On Tuesday 28 July at 4pm Kieran will show kids how to create a pair of LEGO microphones and on Sunday 2 August at 11am Kieran will teach viewers how to build two little ducks. Little builders can download the activity packs from the website in advance to ensure they have their ducks in a row before the workshop! The retail store at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, which remains open both at Chadstone Shopping Centre and online, is offering a free gift with purchase on a range of friendship-inspired LEGO sets. From 30 July – 2 August, anyone who spends over $50 on the LEGO Friends range, LEGO Ideas Central Perk set or the LEGO Dots range will receive a free Friendship Minibuild!
