Best-selling children's author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler's much-loved tale The Gruffalo is brought to life at Arts Centre Melbourne's Playhouse. Direct from the West End, the new production for little ones tells the story of a mouse who heads off on a daring adventure through the deep dark wood.
Written by playwright Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, The Gruffalo is a children’s book about a mouse who goes for a walk in the forest one day. To scare away other dangerous animals, the mouse cunningly invents the Gruffalo, an imaginary monster-like being with terrible tusks, terrible claws and terrible teeth in his terrible jaws.

coDe camp back these school holidays

Have you heard of of Code Camp?
It's a fun way to learn and create apps and make new friends. 22,000 Aussie kids, and more than 100 schools are loving Code Camp - it’s time your kids did to.
Picture
Last autumn school holidays both our children attended Sparks Beginners Camp one of the most popular camps Ages 7 - 12 / Grades 2 - 6 They were both over the moon when we told them they will be attending Code Camp over the school holidays something different and exciting to do. On the first day they were up extra early with excitement. (getting up early doesn't happen often with these two) as soon as we walked in, The friendly team introduced them selves each other to the kids and they were issued their caps,T shirts and laptops.
Picture
We were able to watch the kids become coding superstars as they designed and coded their very own app that they took home and shared with our family and their friends.
Picture
Our children have now walked out of Code camp with new found friends, inspiration and passion towards coding. Both want to be the next Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg's of the future! Code Camp has given them both the stepping tools to achieving their goals.
Picture
Every kid at Code Camp will walk out with their very own app using Code Camp world. They can then download it on their iPads, Androids and online to share with family and friends. What we love is that they have kept going at home, with follow ups and emails for free! It's a great feeling seeing them learn about coding and most importantly LOVING it!
Picture
More than 22,000 Australian kids love Code Camp!

The Strawberry Forest

the strawbErry forest
Bacchus marsh

The Strawberry Forest is like wondering through a secret garden maze of Strawberry trees, kids call it The Treasure Hunt forest! running around searching for the biggest and ripest Strawberries.
Picture
The farm's clever vertical design takes up less land required like other strawberry farms and uses less water making it sustainable and easy to maintain no need for ground fumigation prior to planting like conventional farming and best of all its Chemical free, Only using plant based products if required.
Picture
The Strawberry Forest is part of The Fruits of Life - a fresh produce market right next door just a short 50m stroll under the historic elms, where you can order a freshly squeezed juice, ice cold smoothie or organic coffee from the juice bar. When we are there we like to top up on your weekly fruit and veg with the selection of produce harvested fresh from the farm just behind the store. You'll also find plenty of homemade jams, chutneys, sauces, honey, cheese and other small goods, you could literally get lost in there for hours.
Picture
If you're coming from Melbourne, travel along the Western Highway and take the first Bacchus Marsh exit towards the Bacchus Marsh township (approximately 53.4kms from the CBD). Follow the tree-lined Avenue of Honour all the way till you see The Fruits of Life store (located approximately 4.1kms from the Bacchus Marsh turn-off) on the right hand side.
Picture
We absolutely love the clever design and Spacing between the Strawberry Trees making it so much easier and accessible to all. Unlike other farms no bending over is required you can pick from any height, making it easier for toddlers and the really tall people.
Picture
If you have time ask for Sam, he'd be happy to take you out to the farm to show you how they grow their fresh produce. Just make sure you bring your gumboots!
WHEN
First pick of the season is usually late October early November . Open most weekends and then open every day closer to Christmas and the summer time.

Entry
Entry is free for kids 5 and under. All others are $2.

Cost
Strawberries $12/kg

Chemical free
Easy pram and wheelchair access
Check out there Facebook page for regular updates and events.
