Moja Moja Life: Misaki Kawai for Kids is an indoor playground featuring a display of colourful, furry sculptures of dogs and a puppet studio. With a love of mimetic word pairings spoken in the Japanese language, such as moja moja which means ‘hairy’, and an interest in children’s creative play and making, Misaki shares her playful approach to creating art and her affinity for fluffy dogs with NGV’s young visitors. Central to the exhibition is Kawai's larger-than-life, hot pink, faux fur sculpture of a dog named Arty, which is surrounded by a display of other dogs, each sporting colourful coats made from different fluffy materials. Adjacent to the dispLay is a colourful fun space, where kids will see lots of different hairy dog sculptures. There is Arty, a huge dog covered in hot pink fur and Poofy wearing a bright green fluffy coat. Children can get active and step on lots of paw prints to trigger puppy sound effects and animations of Misaki’s doggy friends – Potato, Raisin, Snowy, Max and Bertie. There is also a Piko Piko Station, where children can create a puppet show videos with Misaki’s puppets using a interactive monitor featuring six different stories.
