Buddha's Day & Multicultural FestivalBuddha’s Day and Multicultural Festival, is back at Federation Square. The annual event is a celebration commemorating Buddha’s Birthday and Melbourne’s colourful multicultural and multi-faith society. The free event is run as a not-for-profit festival helping promote inclusiveness,cultural awareness, cultural understanding; and enhances community spirit and social harmony. The event showcases traditional Buddhist ceremonies such as Bathing the Buddha, Tea Meditation, Twilight Light Offering Ceremony as well as multicultural music and dance performances, social and spiritual well-being lectures, world peace prayers, tai chi classes, interfaith ceremony, children’s activities, animal farm and more. Visitors can also experience an array of mindfulness classes including gentle tai chi, the ancient practice of Sutra calligraphy (pictured below) and contribute Bodhi tree art installation . Our kids loved getting involved and helping contribute to a giant sized Sutra for world peace and harmony spread across a 10m long parchment.
