the springvale snow festival is back for 2019

It will be snowing again in Springvale this July. The award winning Springvale Snow Fest is back on Sunday 28 July from 12pm-7pm and is one of the must see attractions in the heart of Springvale on Buckingham Avenue.

The streets will be filled with fun, snow (real and simulated), moving rides, free kids activities and market and food stalls. The highlight of the festival will be the 80 tonnes of real snow straight off the mountain from Mt Buller!

Event Highlights
The festival will feature some great family entertainment:
  • Two free snow areas with real snow from Mt Buller
  • Over 30 food stalls
  • Live ice sculpting
  • Live stage with music and performances
  • Photoshoot with huskies
  • VR snow experience
  • Snow Princesses Meet & Greet
  • Rides ($2-$6)
  • Fireworks at 6.50pm


Rides and activitiesThere’s plenty to do at Springvale Snow Fest, for people of all ages:
  • Experience real snow from Mt Buller at the free snow areas
  • The Dreaming Space Snow Dome with the Spectacular Fire Show Duo (5.30pm), Circus Workshop, Costume Making, Magic Show (1.15pm) and the Funky Monkey Family Band (3.45pm)
  • Meet and Greet with the Snow Princesses
  • Howling Huskies photo opportunity
  • VR Experience ($4)
  • Rides: Giant Slide ($2), Camelot Castle ($2), Cup and Saucers ($4), Music Trip ($6), Ferris Wheel ($6 or $14 for two adults and two children)
  • Sideshow Alley including Inflatable Basketball, Cannonball Air Blaster and High Striker
  • Plus: Burton Riglets child-friendly snowboarding, Ice Sculptor show, Airbrush Tattooing, Arts and Crafts and much more!

Buddha's Day & Multicultural Festival

Buddha’s Day and Multicultural Festival, is back at Federation Square.

The annual event is a celebration commemorating Buddha’s Birthday and Melbourne’s colourful multicultural and multi-faith society.

The free event is run as a not-for-profit festival helping promote inclusiveness,cultural awareness, cultural understanding; and enhances community spirit and social harmony.

The event showcases traditional Buddhist ceremonies such as Bathing the Buddha, Tea Meditation, Twilight Light Offering Ceremony as well as multicultural music and dance performances, social and spiritual well-being lectures, world peace prayers, tai chi classes, interfaith ceremony, children’s activities, animal farm and more.

Visitors can also experience an array of mindfulness classes including gentle tai chi, the ancient practice of Sutra calligraphy (pictured below) and contribute Bodhi tree art installation .

Our kids loved getting involved and  helping contribute to a giant sized Sutra for world peace and harmony spread across a 10m long parchment.

WERRIBEE WINTER LIGHT FESTIVAL

​Werribee’s light up Street party is Back

See Werribee light up after dark, with beautiful light installations, street performers, kids’ activities and warming winter treats from city traders at Werribee’s free Winter Street Party.

From inflatable giants and neon flamingos to twinkling ballerinas, a glowing dream bear and dazzling displays of fire and ice, the Winter Street Party will bring a touch of magic to Werribee City Centre.

This year’s program will include What’s That by Australian artist Amanda Parer – a glowing, inflatable giant that has toured the world including Prague, Amsterdam and Montreal. Fresh from White Night Melbourne, Carla O’Brien will bring twelve of her playful, interactive works to Watton Street, including neon hearts, angel wings and the debut of a new work – Balloon.

They’ll be snow dome and lantern-making workshops, fire shows, ice sculping, glow hula hoopers, glow-in-the-dark face painting and even glow-in-the-dark bubbles! Local businesses will be open late, to create a bustling winter marketplace of warm winter dishes, hot chocolates and special winter offers.

Your soundtrack for the night will be provided by local musicians, along with a silent laneway disco, where you can bust out your best dance floor moves. So rug up, bring the kids and enjoy the magic of the Winter Street Party.

​ RETURNS TO MELBOURNE THESE WINTER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

The Skating At Festival will be returning to Melbourne these winter school holidays offering a unique winter wonderland ice skating experience, and this year it will be at two city locations: Southbank and St Kilda.

For the first time, Skating At pop-up ice-skating rink will be located on the Crown Riverwalk along the Yarra Promenade, Southbank and also returning to St Kilda on the corner of Acland Street and Barkly Street from June 22 – July 15, 2018.

For the kids, and for those that need a little assistance on the ice, Skating At offers the world's first ‘Kanga' skate aid keeping skaters balanced and adding a whole lot of fun!

Federation Square transforms into
​Shepp Square

For two weeks Federation Square will be transforms into Shepp Square, A  festival of food, family activities and free events highlighting the best of the best of Greater Shepparton right here in the heart of the city.

Taking place from 9-21 April, each day will be themed to showcase the regions dynamic food scene, agricultural offerings, indigenous culture, arts institutions, and family friendly events.

Greater Shepparton is Australia’s Foodbowl and produces 25 per cent of Victoria’s fresh produce. Exploring just how much fun food can be, visitors to Shepp Square can milk a ‘not so real’ cow, dig for veggies, or get involved in a baked beans eating competition!

Families can treat the kids to free and low cost fun with a range of activities on offer including everything from bobbing for apples, Indigenous dancing and African hair braiding.

Visitors are also encouraged to keep an eye out for the famous Shepparton Moooving Art Cows and real live fruit characters including a tomato juggling street walker, Adam the Apple and Polly the Pear.
