I had the privilege of spending 2 days with the staff and volunteers of puffing billy,
On my first day I was invited to attend a three hour first class lunch ride aboard puffing billy which included three course meal prepared by elevation restaurant and a lot of wine.
For dinner we went to elevation restaurant where we ate anything we desired and tasted all the local wines from around Dandenong ranges.
On the first night we went to Fernglades on Menzies and met the owner who also worked for NASA that helped us build a real telescope and we got to catch a glimpse of the moon.
One of my highlights was riding the climax commissioners train that only gets out three times a year and also being able to capture three of the trains on the track at the same time which is only the 2nd time in history for puffing billy.
For lunch on the last day we ate at the Rangers hotel in Gembrook and ate a massive amount of food and drank a ridiculous amount of cocktails.
We stayed at the beautiful The heart of emerald and Fernglade on Menzies bed and breakfast both were beautiful and so comfortable.
I got to capture so many behind the scenes pictures and had the opportunity to meet with some of the 900 volunteers that are keeping puffing billy alive. It truely was an amazing experience.
I can't recommend enough how much puffing billy relies on tourist to keep going. So if your looking at something to do these school holidays please head to puffing billy to help support this piece of Victorian history.
